Upton Castle Gardens

The Castle has recently change hands, however we are very pleased that the new owners are also keen gardeners and we are delighted that the fabulous Gardens will be open to Visitors as usual again this year

The Spring is here....

with the arrival of our migrant birds such as the swallow, swift and house martins, the so-called 'dawn chorus' is back along with the flurry of activity associated with nest-building time.

Another sure sign that spring is here is the return of the bumblebee and butterflies and ladybirds which have recently emerged.

With the trees budding and flowers blooming, the riot of colour and the return of glorious greenery to our hedgerows and woodland are sure signs that the bleak days of winter are finally over. Yes the distinctive white flowers and red berries of the hawthorn are here with the other trees such as horse chestnut, oak and silver birch starting to bud burst.

We already helped several newts, frogs and toads upon a fraught journey back to their breeding sites by fishing them out of the pool and the surrounding green fields are dotted with new-born lambs underline the fact that spring is a season of birth and renewal.
