Summer Exhibition 2025

29th June - 14th September 2025

The Sculpted Path – Summer 2025 Exhibition

This summer, embark on The Sculpted Path, a vibrant exhibition showcasing contemporary sculpture, paintings, and original prints. Featuring the work of 13 talented living artists, this selling exhibition invites visitors on an artistic journey through diverse styles and techniques.

Follow the sculpture trail winding through the formal gardens, beneath the trees of the arboretum, and into the enchanting Celtic rainforest, with several exhibition spaces to explore along the way.

Step through the castle’s Gothic front door to discover the Long Gallery, where abstract conceptual stone sculptures by stonemason and sculptor Roger Stephens MRSS command the space. Complementing these sculptures are the delicate oil paintings of Maggie James, inspired by the thriving ecosystems found along pathways near Cardiff and by her Alhambra series.

In the nave of the ancient Norman chapel, discover a collection of original prints in the company of the effigies of Upton Castle’s early inhabitants. These prints, each crafted through the traditional method of transferring images by hand from one surface to another, depict evocative scenes of the local landscape.

Finally, the Potting Shed Gallery bursts with colour and energy, housing the vibrant abstract canvases of Welsh cubist artist Caspar Beck. Drawing influence from Cubism, Constructivism, and Futurism, Beck’s works abandon realism entirely, embracing pure abstraction in form.

Come and experience this unique artistic journey at Upton Castle Gardens in summer 2025.
